Yes, the SanDisk® iXpand USB 3.0 Flash Drive is compatible with the Apple iPhone XS Max.

If your iPhone XS has a Lightning port then yes it should. I would recommend using the app from Sandisk (personal preference) for ease although you can use the files application with in the iOS as with some of the cheaper ones or the iPads that use the USB C connections as the app does not seem to work with that particular port.
