I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with Windows Vista Home Premium. I plugged the San Disk Ultra 512 GB USB 3.0 into the laptop's USB 2.0 port and I am in business. Since you do not mention the Operating System, I would suggest this will work. I believe your Inspiron 3000 is much newer than my 2007 Inspiron E1505. The San Disk package indicates Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and MAC OS X v10.9+. HOWEVER, Windows Vista Home Premium also works. Suggest you verify the USB port on the computer works before spending $80 (with tax) on the product. If you have a USB 2.0 port or USB 3.0 port on the computer, it will most likely work. Good luck.
