I'm in the same situation. Here's what I found out. Preliminary info: the vertical TV mounts _must_ be attached to the wide part of the horizontal sections of the mount. These are the parts that slide outward to increase the width of the mount. When you spread out the mount to fit wider-spaced studs, the wide portion of the wall mount slides outward to accommodate this. The bad part of this is that in the center of the mount, there will be a gap between the wide parts of the horizontal sections of the mount that's the same size at the amount you spread out the mount to fit the studs. So, in my case, I would have to extend the mount out to it's full 52.9" width to fit the 24" on center studs (48" total). That's a 19.5" expansion of the mount. So, that means there will be a 19.5" gap between the wide parts of the mount in the center. This, in turn, means that the mounting pattern on the TV would have to be 20-ish or more inches. For a 65" Sony TV, the mounting width is about 12" (300mm). So this bracket, while fitting the studs, would ~not~ fit the TV. Hope that makes sense.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's recommended to install 2 lag bolts into the center (top and bottom) of wall plate, then a minimum of 16 in. (406 mm) out from center, for a minimum of 6 lag bolts total. Thanks, - Haydn @ SANUS
