  • QuestionWill this microphone work well with Zoom streaming from my iPhone or iPad?

    Asked by proni.

    • Answer It works well for iPhone and iPad, BUT not for Zoom on iOS devices. This is because the Zoom application does not allow you to choose an external microphone and use the internal speakers. Until the Zoom has better audio settings for their mobile app, hardly any Lightning mic will work. You can use the Saramonic LavMicro+DC (single) or LavMicro+DC2M (dual) lavaliers, and the Saramonic Blink 500 ProX B3 or B4 wireless systems with Zoom and monitor the other participants with wired headphones. But other than those four microphones, you will need to use the internal mic on the iPhone or iPad. I hope that helps.

  • QuestionWill this work with GoPro Hero 9?

    Asked by Sherman.

    • Answer No, this has a Lightning output for iPhones & iPads. There is a USB-C version, but the GoPro camera has a USB see input that is proprietary, so you will need to get a microphone adapter made for GoPro.

  • QuestionCan this mic be used during zoom meetings?

    Asked by RLH.

    • Answer Yes, but unfortunately the Zoom app does not allow external microphones via Lightning and you to use the internal speakers on the phone or tablet. So while they can hear you perfectly, unfortunately you will not be able to hear the meeting. This is a limitation of the app. This is a feature that their desktop application has, but not their mobile application... Yet.

  • QuestionI'm plugging this into my phone. It doesn't seem to do anything. How can I tell if it's working? There was also no instruction manual that came with it.

    Asked by Hadas.

    • Answer The SmartMicDiMini is easy-to-use, but here are a couple of tips that will assist you. #1) Make sure you plug in the microphone BEFORE you launch the video or audio recording app. If the app is already open, it's advisable to close the app completely and then re-launch it. Otherwise, the app will not know that you were using an external microphone. #2) Once you make a recording, you will need to remove the microphone before you can hear playback. This is because the phone's audio limitations, but it is very easy once you get the hang of it. I hope that helps.

  • QuestionHow sensitive is this mic? If I have it positioned to record two people talking from 6-10 feet away, will it still pick up clear audio?

    Asked by Chuck.

    • Answer It was certainly outperform the phone's internal microphones for this task, and would perform much better at 3 to 6 feet. Both will be very audible at 6 to 10 feet, but you will lose a bit of the lower-end frequencies (bass), which will result as a thinner, more distant sound, especially at 10 feet. This is why people gravitate to wireless microphones, even at this range. When using this mic (and any mic) the closer you can get the microphone to the sound source the better. I hope that helps.

  • QuestionI recently bought this mic and my iPhone mis-identifies it as headphones, so it's not recording any sound. How do I get the iPhone to recognize it as a microphone?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer It is recording sound when plugged in, but you have to remove it to hear playback. That is a quirk of iOS when using Lighting microphones. To test: Plug in the mic and open the camera, or recording app, then record a short test recording. Pull out the mic to hear playback. I guarentee it will work perfectly for you.
