It has base bars and it will not likely shift or slide. You can get a mat if you are concerned about a marble of tile floor . I have a mat for the carpet but it was not required -

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If only one person will be using the bike, that's probably not necessary. But if more than one person will be using it, get a mat. When I looked at the bike in the store, I noticed it would hop back and forth a little when the seat hit the front or back of the height adjusting tracking. This is hard to avoid because the seat is heavy and the track angles up at what I estimate to be 25 to 30 degrees.
