If you need a bigger hard deive, but want to keep os, program and files you can do it yourself. Go to Maintenance, windows Backup and make a full backup of your hard disk, including a bootable cd, then replace hard disk, boot from cd and restore your image on new bigger disk.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.my laptop died, I bought the transfer package from the geek squad. $99 and all they did is put the files onto my new laptop. NOTHING was installed. I had to find all the programs, reinstall and copy all the informational files to the new installation folder.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.that is normal 75$ for them to look at it. then to reinstall a OS is like 125$ and to move date over not sure. A lot cheaper to do it at home.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes they can. Being prior Geek Squad they can transfer all of that as long as the old hard drive is still in working order. The costs have changed since I worked there and I'm pretty sure you have to make an appointment now to take it into the store or a in home service so calling your local Best Buy and asking the cost would get you the accurate price and get you setup for an appointment if you choose to have them do the services. Note that the Operating Install would also require the disks that either came with the machine originally or that you should have created when you first got the machine. If you do not have them then you may have to contact the Manufacture and get them ordered to your specific model.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use the Seagate utility to move from your old drive to a new one. Transfers almost everything and makes a bootable drive in the process. The most notable loss was the layout of the icons on my desktop. Big deal..... http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/007716en?language=en_US&key=ka03A000000amGIQAY&kb=n&wwwlocale=en-us
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's easier (and cheaper) to do it yourself. It might take a bit longer... but you'll have more control over what gets saved and where.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm sure geek squad will provide data transfer. Seagate has free tools on their website that help you do this as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes they can. But don't know the cost. You are better off doing it yourself. Go to YouTube if you need help.
