QuestionWhat's the format of this hard drive?I know that it's usually not the case for a portable hard drive to be used simultaneously on Windows and Mac systems. It seems that the Mac can only read but cannot write on the NTFS format, while Windows doesn't recognize HFS+ format. However, the FATs and exFATs all have their defects such as not supporting files over 4GB or not stable and something like that. I'm wondering how this hard drive can make it compatible on either systems and what's the format it is choosing. Thanks a lot.

- Answer Hi there, I use this with my Mac and I can read and write with it. I backup my work to time machine, I also save other files there and work off of it. So far it's been fine! When I bought it they told me if I had any trouble I could return it, but it worked fine. If you purchase this just speak with someone and make sure that you can return it if you have any issues. I hope that helps!

- Answer Yes, but you'll need to reformat the seagate hard drive in order to do so. You can do this in the Disk Management utility in windows 10. For specific instructions, Google the phrase: "How to format your hard drive - Seagate" And it'll be the link that takes you to the seagate website.which provides clear and simple directions. BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORMAT YOUR PRIMARY HARD DRIVE!

QuestionI am saving about 1 TB of company videos on a Windows 10 PC. I WOULD LIKE TO TRANSFER THEM TO THIS DRIVE AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO BOTH MAC and Window 10 Users. Will it work? All videos are Mpeg4 format.

- Answer Yes, it was a same concern that I had when I had to decide to buy. I also have to use for both operations and didn't want to format.(And my main device is a Mac.) The answer is (as I figured out) if you go to Seagate website and download "Paragon program" for PC(Mac automatically works.), the PC recognises the external hard drive for Mac. I was told it's kinda unstable, so might need extra cautions, but working good.

- Answer I would bet, yes! As my son has taken several of my old Mac (formatted) external drives and plugged them into his Xbox. I assume he reformats them for the Xbox, so (LOL) I don't ever use them after he's done with them!

- Answer Hi! Apple Mac Time-Machine Automatic backups you set to On or Off. When On they run every hour. When Off... nothing. To run a backup on Sunday's only you will have to start them manually.

- Answer this should not be a problem. just keep in mind that your transfers will be limited by your router speed and USB port type on your router. I would not recommend this setup unless you have a USB 3.0 (blue) port on your router.
