• A:Answer The Seagate 4TB external drive does not need a separate power supply. I also find the drive to be quite reliable. I have no problems with these drives, and have used them for data storage and retrieval. There is one wire that hooks right into the USB port, and that is all that is necessary. • A:Answer I would say possibly faulty but depends on your computer. Check Seagate site for a driver to install. They offer them on the external hard drive if needed but if yours doesn’t even show up it could be a faulty external HD, cord or even the port you are using on your computer. Yes the 3.0 ports can accept the 2.1 and older USB but the 2.1 and older ports don’t work with 3.0 cables.

• A:Answer Technically yes, you can. HOWEVER, you would have to transfer them from your phone TO your computer first, BEFORE putting them on this drive. You cannot put them directly from your phone onto this drive. It will NOT plug directly into your phone. It needs to be plugged into your computer (or other USB peripheral) to work. There are other options out there that will plug directly into your phone.
