It is a horrible design choice to not have an OFF setting for the rolling brushes. A roller that can not be turned off will damage a handmade carpet.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The 1st (low) setting is hardwood/bare, 2nd (middle) is carpet and 3rd (top)area/shag thick carpet. On settings 2 & 3 both rollers move at a faster pace but settings 2 has more suction than 3. On the 1st setting both rollers move but at a slow pace. You can not completely stop one or the other while vacuuming.

When you put the vacuum in an upright locked position, the brushrolls will stop spinning. If this is not happening, we ask that you reach out to Shark® Customer Care at 877-581-7375.
