To put the Foam and Felt filter into this unit you would need to lift the latch on the top of the handheld to open the filter cover, then you would put in the felt filter first then the foam filter and put the cover back on. To put in the Post motor filter you would lift off the post filter cover below the handle of the handheld then insert the filter and put the cover back on.
