Check the owner's manual. There is a very simple pinch release on both sides of the dust cup. Once the dust cup is off the handle, lift the lever at the end of the dust cup to open the lid. The accumulated dust--there will be a LOT--will then be easy to dump. There is also a filter in the upper handle that collects smaller dust particles. It must be removed and washed in plain water at least once a month; otherwise the vacuum will lose suction.

Make sure the unit is unplugged first. Remove the dust cup by squeezing the two "dust cup release" latches on either sides of the base and pulling it straight out. Place the rest of the vacuum on the floor. Hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom door release button to empty. To reattach, insert the dust cup straight into the hand vacuum until you hear it click into place. You can also separate the hand vac from the rest of the vacuum by pressing the wand release button. Next, hold the dust cup over the trash and press the bottom door release button on the front of the dust cup. Tap gently to empty contents or wipe clean with a soft cloth. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support Team
