Many if not most consumer electronics and kitchen electrics, for that matter, are made using components sourced from various suppliers. I can't speak to Sharp specifically but I do know that similar has occurred with Toshiba sub-licensing/contracting their TV production to what we would consider a "no-name" manufacturer. As far as I know, there hasn't been a TV made in the U.S. for several decades or assembled in Japan for at least 10 years if not longer. Manufacturing of most consumer electronics is almost exclusively performed in China and Vietnam and, to a lesser extent, S. Korea and Taiwan. Japan, like the U.S., has significantly higher cost of production (labor), which is why we no longer see "Made in Japan" labels on most consumer (non-professional) products. (This not only applies to Sharp but Japanese companies like Nikon.)
