QuestionChris asked whether the light turns on when you open the door. The response was that the light turns on when the unit is working. Does that mean that the light does NOT turn on when you open the door???

- Answer The right answer is YES, the light turns ON when door is open. And it also turns ON when unit is working. This seems to be, probably, a most frequently asked question with countertop microwaves. Unfortunately, the Sharp representative gave incorrect answer twice. Good job with demoting your products! I wouldn't buy this microwave, if Best Buy employee would not go an extra mile, pulling display model to closest power outlet, just to prove that the light comes ON indeed.

QuestionAre you able to cook by inputting time and power level? If so, what is the process?

- Answer Push "Time Cook" then input amount of time you want. Push "Power Level" then input 5 for half power, or whatever.

- Answer The push button to open the door is to tight and causes the Microwave to move when opening the door! I suggest going back to the handle to open and close the microwave.

- Answer Hello Hope, unfortunately I must advise that this model does not carry a trim kit, however, the models closest to this one that does are the SMC1842CS/ SMC1843CM.

QuestionWhen I input the cooking time, is it to the seconds, or to the minutes? We have a microwave that can only input cooking time in minutes, when you press 1, it'll automatically start with 1 minute, I can't input 1 minute 5 seconds, or something like that.

- Answer To use minutes you have to push time cook then push the keypad how many seconds then push start.

QuestionMy current sharp has 1100 watts will I notice the difference?

- Answer When heating up my thermal mug of coffee for the drive to work, my previous 1100 watt Sharp took 80 seconds to bring it to proper temperature. This model now takes 90 seconds. So I've learned to increase cooking times by about 10%, not a big deal to me, and when heating foods, the temperature of the food seems to be more consistent throughout after removing it from the microwave.

QuestionI bought this microwave new 16 mos ago. I was heating up water today and the unit shut completely down. The top right side felt hot. I unplugged it. Is there a safety shutoff mechanism on this microwave? If it come back on after plugging in, will be safe

- Answer I just checked and our 13x9 (inside) does fit. You have to tip it just a little to get past the door but otherwise an easy fit. You'll want to lift out the turntable first because ithe rotating turntable would just fight the bottom of the baking dish; the dish is too big to rotate in the cavity.

- Answer Nope. We have it in a space where there is 1 inch clearance on each side and the bottom, and 2 inches in the back and on the top.
