Yes, mine does the same thing. If you turn the ion feature off it stops ticking like you said.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can press the Ionizer button and turn it off. It is shown by the blue LED light if the light is on the ionizer is on. The ionizer is basically a spark in the air which is one of the major selling points of this air purifier because it is not simply a filter with a fan on it. I would suggest just turning the ionizer off when you are near it to avoid the annoyance but turn it back on when you are leaving the room for an extended period. Hope this helps :)
