It will depend on how wet the towels are and what you are hoping to achieve with them. This product functions as a towel warmer and not a towel dryer. It is insulated to retain heat so wet towels will stay wet as there is no place for the water to go. Additionally, this product does feature an auto shutoff timer after 45 minutes.
