Q: QuestionHow do I figure out what materials I need to provide for the installation?I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra and a subwoofer already hooked up to an amp, but I don't know what wires I need to hook the subwoofer up to my car and the factory radio inside. How can I figure out what I need to connect everything?

Q: QuestionWhen installing a subwoofer do you...Do you use an oscilloscope to test the subwoofer and amp setup? How do you set gain? Voltage meter using ohms law or a specialized tuner? Do you check for distortion? What exactly does a subwoofer installation cover?

• A:Answer I have had several installs at geek squad involving subwoofers and when they tune the amp they use their ears. Best buy does not provide them with an o-scope or specialized tuner. If your lucky, you can find a tech there that has their own o-scope or voltmeter to do the tuning, but I've only encountered that once with a tech that has a master certification and he was really into car audio. I don't know where he went but where I go to do installs he is no longer there. Subwoofer install covers putting sub in box, that's it. The amp install is the main thing and it can be from $70-$125 depending on type of amp.

Q: QuestionI recently purchased a 12” powered JBL subwoofer, with the amp and sub all in one box, I was wondering if I would need to purchase the amp installation or the single sub installation or both. Would there be any discounts if I added a stereo installation?

• A:Answer i had the same deal myne was a powered kicker enclosure. i only paid for the amp install. and materials. if you have all other applicable parts IE wires and the like. but i don't think they'd charge for a sub install too if it is part of the box.

Q: QuestionDoes it cost more money if you are getting two subs installed in two different boxesI have two 10" and want to put them into two different boxes on each side of my trunk. Would this package still work?

• A:Answer It would be $40 unless the tech is nice and does it for one but from my own experiences they will charge you for two. And I would look into just doing one box because two boxes will cancel each other out if facing one another.

• A:Answer I’ve tried randomly going to get work done and it’s hard because these guys are so busy. Better to call and schedule an appointment and let them know what work your are trying to do. From your question it will take 3-4 hours for amp, dual subs installation
