QuestionIf i have internet service and a smart phone, will this work for me to watch tv?

Answer Hi Marge- You left out one thing, you need a smart tv as well, or at least a devise such as amazon firestick plugged into the tv to make it "smart. " Need internet service at the location you are sending from as well as where you are sending to. You cannot watch different stations at each location unless you have multiple cable boxes and "dedicate" one to slinging. The firestick gives minimal control and I got poor picture quality, but I have slow internet at both locations. I bought a Roku TV and it worked a ton better. You can google slingbox website to get a list of devises that work with slingbox. THE CURRENTLY AVAILABE RETAIL ROKUs DO NOT WORK!!!! You would have to get a refurbished older one. The set-up process can be tedious, need to download Roku ap and slingbox for phone for free app(NOT SLING TV APP!!!!) I tried to upload the instructions I give my guests here but the website would not accept the documents. Sorry! Mark

Answer I believe sling tv...uses roku or chromecast to cast onto ur tv...the research I've done this is 9.99 or so a month...but with the sling box u don't pay each month...the apps that I downloaded from the setup are free with the hardware.. I used the slingbox cast onto my tv though chromecast and the android app on my phone. I have a smart tv..but had to use the chromcast.com or mirroring option..there seems to be a problem with age of my. tv...in theory I think it should work if you can download the sling box app onto your smart tv. great pur base. ..especially snowbirds travelling who would like to keep up with your own news and weather or shows from home.

QuestionReally ignorant to tech stuff. I want to record shows and play them later on the same tv at home, like I used to do with my old vcr. I don't want to order this through Directv for a monthly fee if I can do it myself. Any help is appreciated!

Answer This is not a PVR or DVR. It just allows you to control them remotely. You still need a PVR/DVR solution.

Answer Yes- you will in fact be accessing the cable box in your NJ home and streaming that image to your FL TV via Roku.

Answer You can watch all of your regular TV subscribed programs anywhere, anytime. However, you may only watch whatever is currently showing on the TV that your slingbox is hooked up to. If you change the channel on the TV your slingbox is sending a signal to, then you will also be changing the channel on the TV that slingbox is hooked up to in your house.

Answer The slingbox slings whatever channels you have on your TV. This device is not replacing your cable. It connects to your cable box and allows you to watch the the channels you're already paying for on your other devices (Phones, tablets, computers, Roku, Firestick...) If you're looking for a cable replacement, you're looking for Sling TV, not Slingbox.

Answer Can't answer your question, but federal law mandates that you can use an antenna or dish anywhere you are including apts and condos. Check into this.

Answer Other than a Roku TV, most of the Smart TV's I've seen don't have the Slingplayer app available. You need it to use it to run the Slingbox. However, you can hook a Roku, Firestick, etc to the TV to watch a Slingbox located at another location. You can cast to some Smart TVs using SlingPlayer app on your mobile device. You can't use a SmartTV as a source for the Slingbox because most (if any) don't have video outputs.

Answer Yes, You should be able to, we've been using our's from another state to watch our Comcast Divo. You have to get used to the response command time. At first we didn't think that our commands were going through. It takes a few seconds to transmit the commands. If you become impatient and press the command again every command is memorized and keeps repeating. It took us awhile to figure this out so exercise patience. It is worth it,especially for me to be able to watch my football teams game instead of the local broadcast.

Answer no monthly fees for the slingbox, but you will obviously still pay for the cable box and their fees.

Answer If your daughters TV is a smartTV and the SlingPlayer app is available on it. You could get her a Roku or another streaming box that has the SlingPlayer app available. Also, this would require both of you to watch the same channel if you both were using the cablebox at the same time.

Answer Yes. This will work with the Firestick. I use the M2 to silng TV from my living room to our Firestick in the bedroom. That said, the Firestick software is kinda flaky. It works, but it's very slow to move through the guide to change channels.
