QuestionI recently bought a Nest thermostat and it came with a Google Home Mini. Both work great independantly, but I thought the whole idea of packaging them together meant that they would work together! My Google Home will not accept my Nest.

QuestionI have an older home with 2 zones for heating ( no central air). if I install a smart thermostat on 1st floor what happens to the 2nd floor thermostat? remote access to 1st floor thermostat is all I need. can I do this?

- Answer The other zone will work normally as before. I just installed a smart thermostat in my family room so I can monitor the temperature while I'm away. The thermostat for the other zone still works normally.

QuestionI do not have a C wire. Will geek squad also install C wire during my smart thermostat installation? If so, does it cost extra?

- Answer It's actually a pretty simple thing to install. All you have to do is buy new thermostat wire that have all the required wires and connect it to one end of the old wire. Overlap it but at least 8 inches and use lots of tape on it and make sure it won't get caught on anything behind the wall. Then go to the other end and pull the old wire thorough which will bring he new wire into its place. It's also a good idea to have someone feed the new wire into the wall.

QuestionI don't know anything about my currently wiring. If it turns out that we need extra wiring to make the Nest Thermostat work would you still charge the full installation fee?

- Answer Don't use Geek Squad for this. They are not licensed for heating and cooling. Call a licensed heating and cooling technician and they can install 2 for around $200

- Answer A HV/AC or an electrician should install the C wire, if the wire is not being used with your old thermostat. If the Geek is trained in installing the common wire then yes.
