QuestionI have a Sonos Move I like it for what it is,a portable wi-fi speaker.However I would like a higher quality sound,as close to concert hall quality as I can get.Thinking of getting the 5.My question is will I notice any significan upgrade in sound quality

- Answer YES!! This speaker is Night Club Quality as far as sound is concerned. However, it's a pain to use!!! You must have an internet connection and it must be near the wi-fi signal to use. To set it up it MUST be plugged directly into the internet connection or forget it. There is no Bluetooth. Also, you can plug directly from a device, but the device MUST be connect to internet since you can only play it using the Sonos app and you must be connected to the internet to use the app. If not for the sound I would have retuned it. If your internet signal drops out, the music stops and must be restarted all over again. (I know this question is a year old, but I thought someone might find the input useful)

QuestionI just purchased 2 SONOS FIVE speakers. I already have an ARC and sub in the living room for TV and music. Should the new FIVES be placed BEHIND the listener or in front by the TV for best sound experience? The room is rather large and open. tx

QuestionWill this work if it is paired with a Play 5?

- Answer The Sonos Five can live on the same Sonos system and be grouped with Play:5 (Gen 2). You can not stereo pair the Sonos Five with a Play:5 (Gen 2) as the internals are different and will not allow the two to stereo pair.

QuestionIt says you have to turn the speaker vertical to get stereo separation. Can they be laid horizontal and still be paired with another speaker to get L&R stereo separation?

- Answer You can absolutely still get stereo separation with these paired and set horizontally. The speaker knows its configuration and smartly adjusts its digital sound processing to get the best sound. Vertical orientation gets a more pronounced "sweet spot" which is great for critical listening. Horizontal orientation still provides with stereo separation but gives you a much wider sound stage which is great for filling a whole room or a party with music!

QuestionCurious if its worth getting two of these and then additional 2 of the Sonos 1 for true surround sound so ill ha e 1 sub woofer 1 arc 2 Sonos 1 beside tv and then 2 of the Sonos 5s in the back is this the ideal setup? Or is 2 5s over kill vs just use4 1

- Answer don't have a 1, but have 2 Sonos 3 and 2 Sonos 5. The sonos 5 can really fill a room with sound!

QuestionIf I play Sonos radio on this speaker, will it time out after a while and shut off, or will it stream the radio station and play indefinitely? Thank you!

- Answer Hi, and thanks for your question! Sonos Radio doesn't have a timeout feature so in most cases your music will not stop unless you tell it to. However, some partner stations may time out if that station requires us to do that in our agreement with them. However, none of the Sonos Stations that we curate or create will time out.

QuestionWhat is the deal with version 1 versus version 2? If I buy this and update the app, will my old 5 no longer work? I had heard older versions of Sonos products might no longer work with the new app.

- Answer Old equipment should work. My brother in law is doing that. New app is to support their pay music app by Sonos. It also added functionality for SiriusXM, Apple Music etc. I believe the new app was need for arc and Dolby atmos.

- Answer Hi, thank you for your question. Your subwoofers are not compatible with a Sonos Five but you would be able to connect one of your subwoofers to a Sonos Amp. If you had two Sonos Amps, this would allow you to connect each of your subwoofers.

- Answer The Sonos Five is not bluetooth and must be plugged into the wall for power. Note: if you ask your questions between 9-5EST Mon-Friday (with the exception of holidays) you'll get a faster response)

QuestionHow would this work with hooking up to a turntable? Would you just hook the turntable up to one Sonos Play 5, and then it would transfer to others? (I would want two Play 5's)... Would there be any "lag" doing this?

- Answer If you wanted to plug a turn table into it, it would have to be with a 3.5mm aux cable. You could then group your other Sonos speakers with the Sonos 5, and select "line in" in our app and they'll all play what's playing from your turn table. If this doesn't work for you, another product to consider would be Sonos Port. It doesn't have a speaker but it would allow you to take your turntable and integrate that into your Sonos system.

QuestionI have the traditional setup (Arc, Sub, 2 1's) set up in the traditional way. I'm interested in the 5, and wonder if adding a single 5 to the system (behind center) will add, detract, prove unnecessary, or create yet a more complete stream of sound?
