We were originally planning on the Sonos 1. After listening in the store, the sound quality of the 3 is MUCH superior. Sonos 3 is "rich", wheras the Sonos 1 sounds "tinny" by comparison. If you're going to take the plunge with Sonos, I'd recommend the 3 series. Paired in stereo, they are superb, and even individually, they're excellent.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe that the sound quality of the Play 3 is so much better than the Play 1, that you would be better off with a single Play 3 than two Play 1s. That's the configuration I use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, although the play:1 is a great speaker it can't fill in the base like the play:3. Spend the extra money for the play:3 and then get a play:1 later to build a surround sound
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 2 is ok but the Play 3 has much better sound. Don't care much for the Play 1
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would go with the 2 speakers vs the one play 3 in most cases. The play 3 has a mid speaker so it might sound richer, but for a stereo effect, I say 2 speakers is better than 1. If your using the play 1's for tv stereo then you don't want the mids coming thorough anyway, it would sound better to add a sub down the line. The sub is pricey but it bumps hard, and sounds killer!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For me it would depend on the application. For TV surround I would recommend the two Play 1 speakers. For sound in a room 12 x 15, I think one Play 3 would be fine. It also depends on the type of music and the volume at which you plan to listen. The Play 3 does provide a deeper sound.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, had the 1 , threes much better
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The smaller the speaker the more the distortion. If I wanted music in several smaller rooms I'd recommend two sonos ones. The sound quality increases significantly with the number of speakers e.g. Three or five. If I had to do over, I'd save and invest in a sonos five because when inside it is capable of being heard all over the house. If u have a party you can plug it outside and fill the entire backyard with crystal clear music. You can add threes and ones for bedrooms, offices as add ons later as the are more affordable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2 Sonos play 1 would have a great stereo sound. we have play 1 in master bedroom ... play 3 in living room and play 5 on patio, also have several speakers on patio from another system we have had for a long time. the play 5 works great and stereo sounds really good. Sonos is great. If I need more speakers in the future I would get another Sonos for the patio. The quality os Sonos is great.. Worth the money
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on what your needs are. I originally started with a play 3, and I loved it. It does give a nice stereo sound, although it comes from a single speaker, but it gives much louder volume. If you plan to split your play 1's from corner to corner, to achieve an actual stereo pair, then get the play 1's. If you don't mind your stereo pair (the drivers) to be a few inches apart (as they are in the play 3) then get the play 3. Overall it really depends on what you want out of the speaker, and what you would prefer. 1 speaker on your entertainment center, or 2 speakers end to end/ mounted in the corners of a room.
