I do not recommend for outdoors unless it is a sunny day. :) I have been using it indoors and the reach is fantastic. The router is on the first floor and the Sonos 5 is on the second. Works just fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That's the beauty of Sonos. You don't need a receiver. All u need is a wireless internet connection and the music is streamed to each speaker. You can set them outside or inside.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They are not waterproof if that is the question. If under a back covered deck it would work. It just needs power source and to connect(be in range) to your home wifi. I personally wouldn't leave it outside as it is expensive and a theif would gladly carry it off. But for back yard parties and gatherings it would do the job perfectly! Hope this helps....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I drag my Play:5 outside all the time. as long as you're within range of your wifi service (typically 50 ft or less) it's flawless. NO Sonos speakers are intended to be left out in the elements/rain at all though!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, can use the play 5 outdoors but not waterproof so would only use in a manor the speaker could stay covered from rain such as under the roof overhang or deck. Alternatively you could mount it with a make shift roof out of decking boards or painted plywood. If looking for waterproof where speaker will take rain water exposure is look elsewhere. Personally I used Boston acoustic 7 series with Sonos amp (amp stays inside the house but must wire thru the wall to mounted exterior speaker.
