RE: SONY HT-CT290 Soundbar I could be wrong, but I thought I read the instruction/setup booklet that you can only do that if you are using the HDMI connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In your TV settings you'll need to check if they are synced. I have it connected to a Sony TV so they communicate to each other fairly easily. Within these sync settings there should be an option for on and off regarding the tv being on or off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Samsung 4k UHD HDR tv. It has an HDMI ARC Out as well as an optical. It took me a few hours to get the DirecTv remote to be able to adjust the volume on the sound bar and to turn it off and on with the DirecTv remote. However, you must use the HDMI (ARC) out on the tv to the sound bar in order for the tv remote to work. You have to adjust your Samsung Tv settings also to use HDMI in the settings instead of optical or it won't be HDMI even though it is connected that way. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine did this automatically when connected right out of the box w/o any setting changes. You may want to try with another TV unit to see whether the currently connected one is compatible. I have Samsung TV btw.
