  • QuestionDoes this changer have to be hooked up to a receiver to function or can it be used alone?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Unfortunately, the Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer is not a stand-alone product. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer does not offer speaker terminals. You can’t connect any pair of speakers to the Sony CD changer. The Sony CD changer operating instructions do not indicate that this unit offers speaker terminals. Sorry. The operating instructions indicate on page 9 that this unit must be connected to an rca style line level input or digital optical input of an amplifier. The Sony CD Changer can be connected to any A/V receiver or shelf stereo system that Best Buy sells. You can also purchase any shelf stereo system from Best Buy if you are looking for a CD player/speaker combination in one complete package. In addition, if you are looking for a CD player with speakers built into one unit, then you can consider purchasing a boombox from Best Buy as well. Typically, a boombox features a CD player, FM/AM tuner, cassette player/recorder, and 2 full range speakers in one unit that can operate on batteries or AC power. The Sony CFD-S350SILVER boombox or Sony CFD-G700CP boombox would be a great choice for this application. Good Luck.

The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer is not a traditional CD Recorder. There is no information in this unit’s operating instructions or marketing specifications that indicates that this Sony CD Changer can record audio or any music from records or cassettes to recordable CD media. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer operating instructions indicate on pages 5, 13, and 14 that you can transfer music from a disc to a USB device (REC USB). You can only record to a connected USB device. • QuestionIs it compatible with a 23 year old technics system

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Yes. You can purchase any component CD player from Best Buy to meet your needs, including the Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer. You didn’t list the model number of your Technics receiver, but as long as your receiver features an AUX input with RCA type connectors, then any CD player will be compatible with it. My research indicates that Technics receiver model # SA-203, sold in the 1980’s, features an AUX input that would be compatible with a CD player. If this is not your model, it would still offer similar inputs for receivers made during that period of time. With that in mind, I would recommend Sony CD players CDP-CE375 |SKU:4144544 or Sony CDP-CE500 |SKU:1676121 for this type of application. The audio patch cable needed to make the connection between the CD player and your receiver is included with the Sony CD Changer. Good Luck.

  • Questionis this a continual play or do i have to select each cdi have an old cd player with five cd holder, however, it does not go from disc number one to the next

    Asked by jl.

    • Answer Yes. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer does offer “continuous” play for your personal disc playback needs. You can load up to 5 discs in this unit for playback. The Sony CD Changer will play all 5 discs in consecutive order beginning with DISC 1, without any intervention by the user, if desired. You can also select a specific disc to begin the current playback session on the main unit or supplied remote commander by pressing the appropriate DISC number button. In addition, this Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer does offer shuffle play across all of the discs that are loaded in the unit or on one specific disc as specified by the user. You can also program tracks to be played back on a specific disc as well. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer has numerous repeat and random playback options that are described in the operating instructions. Some of these playback modes include the ability to repeat all songs on all 5 discs or on 1 specific disc. Moreover, this unit offers “shuffle play” which allows the Sony CD Changer to play tracks in random order on all 5 discs or on 1 specific disc. This Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer offers just about every shuffle, repeat, and program play option that can be offered in the component CD player product category. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer operating instructions indicate on page 16 that this unit offers random or shuffle play across all CD or MP3 CD discs (All Discs Shuffle) , one specific disc (1 Disc Shuffle), and on a connected USB device (USB Memory Shuffle). Good Luck.

  • Questioncan I use this to record onto an iPodwith the usb plug in the front does this allow you to record right to an iPod or MP3 player direct from the cd player without using a computer?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The USB ports are intended to be used for external flash storage, not an iPod. An iPod requires MP3's to be logged into iTunes and formatted before an iPod could play the file. You would need to transfer the file on to a flash drive, move that to your computer, then copy the file into iTunes.

    Asked by jim.

    • Answer Absolutely. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer is compatible with the Bose Wave Radio. The Bose Wave Radio operating instructions indicate on page 11 that you can connect any component CD player to the RCA style AUX input on the rear panel of the Wave radio.
