A:Answer I’m certainly not an expert photographer, so my answer is in layman’s terms. I use this lens often for capturing my child at gymnastic meets, where I can’t get physically close to the action.
My answer to your question is both. This lens itself does not have manual/auto focus switch, like some others do. The amount of zoom is manual as you frame your shot. The lens then works with the (Sony) camera’s auto-focus capability when the shot button is pressed halfway down.
