This is Sony's rating for motion clarity. The actual screen itself is refreshing 120 times each second (120hz), but there are other things going on inside of the television that effectively boost the refresh rate artificially (negative frame insertion, backlight strobing, etc.). The technology that Sony utilizes makes it more compatible with the human eye and brain, using your brain's processing power to do some of the motion correction rather than relying on a computer chip to do it (the human brain is MUCH better at this than any computer chip is).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Simply put, that's their term for 120 hz processing. It's not the fastest but not the slowest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not a technical answer, but I think the comparative refresh rate is 120 ( not 240). Motionflow XR 960 is Son'y's gobbledygook that they do some things to "enhance" the 120 refresh rate. I can tell you that sports action (NFL playoffs, NBA, NCAA basketball, figure skating) have all looked great on this Sony TV.

Sony’s refresh rate technology (Motionflow™) allows fast moving action sequences in sports and movies to be seen with lifelike clarity.
