A:AnswerYou will be blown away. I use the Sony UBP-X800 player to play the HDR movies. It seriously nears perfection. No need to go to a movie theatre again!
A:AnswerI would say the receiver does need to be replaced if it has no HDMI. This is a HDMI world we live in. HDMI from BD to receiver, problem solved.
A:AnswerYes you should get 5.1 through the optical cable. I used optical on my last 5.1 system but since moving now use the Sonos soundbar with sub. There is a list of tv's from 2018 on ratings.com with reviews on which allow pass through HDMI ARC and 5.1, Sony is listed. I just purchased my Sony Z9D from BB and works with 5.1 on the optical.
You should be okay.
A:AnswerHi Dragonfly, If you're referring to Atmos, then no, it doesn't support this format. Kindly refer to this link for more information (Audio Features/ARC Output Format):

A:AnswerNot sure about it detecting 3D content from an installed or plugged in USB External Hard Drive. But, you can manually turn on the 3D function; even with non-3D sourced video.
A:AnswerI've owned the 900f and sold it to buy the Z9D. The Z9D is 600 to 800 nits brighter and has near OLED black levels due to it's 600+ dimming zones. The 900f only has around 50 dimming zones. The 900f is a great TV, but the Z9D is in a whole other league.
