God that's a hard one. Z9d had the best backlighting system of any LED TV. That will definitely beat the 950g in terms of contrasting and blooming. 950g is going to have much more updated features lower input lag and I think a better all-around experience but you may be taking a step back in overall picture quality. Motion will be better. But contrasting will be just a bit lower than half and the z9d gets brighter. You would be better served maybe waiting maybe the Z9G if your budget allows.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do you have a SONY PS5? Did you know that SONY has built in a feature on PS5, PS4 and the latest PS3 4.86 update to transform all 2D games to 3D Active? Just play the game on PS3, PS4 or PS5 consoles, however, connected to a SONY BRAVIA 3D Active TV, from the old models 2010 (LX900) to the most recent ones (Z9D 2016), of all models and price ranges, it doesn't have to be a top-of-the-line SONY Bravia, but it has to be a "BRAIN" SONY BRAVIA 3D TV with SIMULATE TO 3D function. SONY Bravia 3D PAssivo TVs are unable to perform the simulation effectively. SONY included a function to send METADATA of information about the frame-by-frame rendering layers of games that use 3D Graphics Computing on PS3, PS4 and PS5, and it is this Layer information that SONY Bravia 3D Active TVs use to generate 3D images Active with the same quality as 3D MASTERING, that is, it does not look like a 3D SIMULATED 3D image, but rather looks like a real 3D MASTERED image, professionally. This function is available on all PS3, PS4 and PS5 consoles, but it is necessary to be using the latest updated firmware / update of the Operating System. The TV must also be a SONY Bravia 3D "ACTIVE" with SIMULATE TO 3D function. This SONY Bravia TV must also be using the latest software available, that is, it must be updated. Most are updated by pendrive, just enter the SONY website, search for the TV model, download the update, extract the file (which will be compressed), and leave the file in the "root" of the pendrive (out of the folder). The flash drive must be using FAT32 formatting! Then update the TV. It is not necessary to be a top of the line TV (XBR), but it must be SONY, it must be 3D Active, and it must have the function of SIMULATE TO 3D. Also, use an HDMI cable that supports 3D, such as HDMI 1.4 cable, or HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 HDMI 1.3 Does not support 3D, although it came from the factory with the SONY PS3, after all the SONY PS3 were launched in 2006 while the first SONY 3D TVs were launched only in 2010 (XBR LX900 / KDL-46LX900 and other cheaper models) . So make sure the HDMI cable is at least 1.4 Go to the home of someone who has a SONY Bravia 3D Active, take your PS3 / PS4 / PS5 open any game that uses a decent 3D Computer Graphics, like racing games from SONY: GRAN TURISMO 6 - AYRTON SENNA; GRAN TURISMO 6.5 - SPORT; GRAN TURISMO 7 2021 (PS4 & PS5); DRIVE CLUB 2014; or from EA Games - all "Need For Speed" from 2006 to 202X, although first-person action games with decent graphics are also legal in SONY Active 3D, like DETROIT BOCOME HUMAN; HORIZON ZERO DOWN; HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST 2021 (PS4 & PS5); SPIDER MAN (ALL VERSIONS, INCLUDING CURRENT MORALES); GHOST OF TSUSHIMA 2020; or from EA Games: "Star Wars: Battlefront 2015" and "Star Wars: Battlefront II 2017" and from Take-Two Interactive: "GTA V 2013", anyway, take the test and you will be so surprised that you will want to buy one SONY Bravia 3D TV Active even if used. Attention, 3D Active uses original SONY Active Shutter 3D glasses, which vary according to the TV model. Older SONY Active 3D TVs use an Active 3D Transmitter built into the TV or sold separately for SONY Bravia 3D Active Ready TVs. For both cases, the Active 3D glasses communicate via infrared with this Transmitter (usually built into the TV). The compatible Active 3D Glasses are the SONY TDG-BR50 (Children Version) & SONY TDG-BR100 (Adult Version) - both with a battery that must be replaced after it has finished charging for up to 30 hours - it is not a rechargeable battery; and the SONY TDG-BR250 -with a rechargeable battery via USB - the battery cannot be replaced, and there is no replacement battery when it becomes addicted, in which case the 3D glasses must be discarded at a SONY Authorized Service Center, and a another Active 3D glasses in place of this one, be it a TDG-BR-50 / TDG-BR-100, or another identical to the discarded one, a TDG-BR250. Subsequently, SONY Bravia 3D Active TVs started to use Bluetooth connection, the same time when the exclusive SONY SimulView technology was launched, in 3D Active and 3D Passive, in which 02 players could play the same game simultaneously in full screen, without being necessary split the screen in half (left / right or top / bottom), instead both saw the game in full screen, each with their race car / controlling their character. It is worth remembering that the 2D to 3D game simulation is effectively necessary to be a SONY Bravia 3D Active, with a SIMULAR to 3D function; SimulView games must have been produced for this purpose, and were only available on the SONY PS3 - in specific games. www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00020875 Even so, SimulView Bluetooth Active 3D glasses were launched, in the same way that the common Bluetooth Active 3D glasses, the SONY TDG-BT400a & SONY TDG-BT500a (2016 - SONY Z9D - the ever better 3D Atcive Quantum Dot 4K HDR Master, were launched Drive True PureLED AndoidTVs of the World - this display has the same quality as the AMOLED display (The XBR-100Z9D has the same SuperAMOLED display quality). Anyway, SONY is encrypting the METADATA of the SONY PS3, SONY PS4 and SONY PS5, and only the SONY Bravia 3D Active & SONY PlayStation 3D Active Monitor TVs have the internal system to decrypt the METADATA information about "the rendering layers frame-by-frame "of games that use 3D Computer Graphics, and use this information to base 2D to 3D Active Simulation, and so Simulation actually delivers the same quality as a 3D Mastered game. The experience is the best on the face of Planet Earth in 3D. TEST! You will never want to play 2D / 2D TV again; As I said, just connect the SONY BRAVIA 3D Active TV to a SONY PS3, SPNY PS4 or SONY PS5, and play any of the games I mentioned (games that are considered 2D / Unmastered to 3D), and then press the controller TV remote the "3D button" for the SONY Bravia 3D Active TV to perform 2D to 3D simulation, and it will recognize the encrypted METADATA information sent by SONY PS3, SONY PS4 and SONY PS5. For everything to work properly, the console, game and TV need to be updated with the latest firmware / operating system / software / bug fix update, etc. So just put on the SONY Active 3D glasses, plug them in (the SONY TDG Active 3D glasses need to be charged / recharged), and then enjoy the Active 3D games. From there you will never again accept to play a game in "2D mode". DO THE TEST!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the money then yes! The 950G can be blinding bright! But it has a lot of upgraded features and probably is cheaper than your 2017 model. But honestly if you are happy with your tv and can wait OLED is better just need to make sure the issues that OLED can have don’t fall in your usage of the tv and you’ll be okay. Also 8K TVs will be making a presence on the scene which allows better quality on larger “canvases”. So maybe hold off on upgrading your 2017 for a bit or spend that money and then again 2 years later it’s up to you!
