  • QuestionWhy does the 83inch a80l have a different back of the tv compare to other sizes same model ? Also does the 83inch have a heat sink because it has identical dimensions as the a90j from 2 years ago… is this the same tv as the a90j just wrapped in a new pane

    Asked by PWWW.

    • Answer Hi Dubb, thank you for your question. Due to the size of the 83" Sony uses a different backing on the 83A80L to provide structural integrity for the larger screen size. The 83A80L is closely related to the A90J in many features including design, center channel mode, and even includes a heat sync. But, the 83A80L is equipt with the new 2023 Cognitive Processor XR that includes many new improvements over the J and K series XR Processor. One of which is the all-new XR Clear Image feature for added clarity no matter what content you are watching. Our Pure Black OLED TV powered by Cognitive Processor XR™ delivers remarkable contrast and every single detail, even in dazzling light or deep shadow. Sound comes directly from the screen, ingeniously immersive. Regards, Erin

  • QuestionIn regard to the heat sink on the 83" A80L...would that mean the 83" A80L gets as bright as the A90J? Would the heatsink make the 83" brighter than the smaller versions of the A80L?

    Asked by Jeff.

    • Answer It is already as bright or brighter than the 83" A90J. From what I understand the A80L 83" is able to do this with a smaller heat sink than what is used on the A90J 83". I have not done a side-by-side comparison of the A80L 83" and the smaller size A80L displays, but I have done a side-by-side comparison of the A90J 83" that has the larger heat sink and the A80L 77" and the A80L 77" has a brighter picture. I am pleased with the brightness of the A80L 83". It appears from the research that I have done, that Sony used some of their older technology with an enhanced XR processor to achieve what seems to be a brighter picture with a smaller heat sink for the A80L 83".

  • QuestionHey does this Sony A80L 83 inch Oled allow the user to change the aspect ratio? Not a fan of those black bars when watching movies.

    Asked by ernie.

    • Answer Hey Ernie, thanks for your question, Yes, from the TV settings you may change the aspect-ratio from the HDMI inputs. If you want to change the aspect-ratio on the streaming apps, that will depend on the app, from the TV settings you are only allowed to change the aspect ratio from the HDMI inputs. In such cases, check if there’s an option within the app or external device’s settings to modify the aspect ratio. Note that the ability to change aspect ratios can be limited based on the signal type. For example, if you're watching 4K content from an external source like a Blu-ray player or streaming service, the aspect ratio cannot be altered through the TV settings. • QuestionI’m planning to get an 83 inches sony brave. Is it ok to put it on my 60 inches long condole table ?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, thanks for your question. The A80L 83-inch Sony Bravia TV is significantly larger than your 60-inch long console table. The TV's width will exceed the table's length, creating an unstable setup that may lead to damage or tipping over. It is recommended to place the TV on a stand or console that matches or exceeds its width for safety and stability. Consider upgrading your console table to a larger one. Hope this helps. ~Earl
