“is the Sony BDP-S5500 the direct successor to the brilliant S5200 ? Hi Dave . . . thank you for responding but you did not answer my question. The S5200 got outstanding reviews especially in "What Hi-Fi magazine" and won it's product of the year award 2014. Is the S5500 a different machine to the The S5200 or its direct replacement. The S5200 is the machine I want to buy, but if the S5500 is simply a newer version of the S5200 and of the same quality then I am happy to buy it instead, but I am looking for all the same virtues of the The S5200. I hope I am not being too complicated, but I am simply wanting a really outstanding Blue-ray 3D player. "What Hi-Fi" nominated your Sony S5200 as The best in its Blu-ray DVD player class for 2014 beating ALL other comparable brands. Thanks Ian”

Hi Ian, These players belong under the same series however some features are added to BDP-S5500 compared to BDP-S5200 such as the BD-Live (Profile 2.0), new user interface, customization on MY Apps, the PS now, and many more.
