Yes, The maximum recording time based on the recording mode information available through the Help Guide is as follows: SHQ (Super high quality mode) 43 h. 25 m. , HQ (High quality mode) 65 h. 10 m. , SP (Standard play mode) 1,043 h. , LP (Long play mode) 4,175 h. For more information, please visit the following link and check page 121. Keep in mind that if you are planning on having it record for extended periods of time you might need to change the batteries for a fresh pair. ~Jeannette

- Answer Hi, Batterycapacity! The battery life last for approximately 26-30 hours depending on the sound quality of the recordings. - Answer Hi Ricco, It does have a function to automatically start recording when the IC recorder detects sound, and pause when no sound is heard, eliminating recording during soundless periods. QuestionCan this be used to dictate letters to be sent to someone (if they have the same recorder)? Would it be hard for an elderly person to do that? I'm looking for a way to allow an elderly friend to send me letters.

- Answer As long as the speech being recorded is audible...you could conceivably use the headphone jack to an "input jack" on a computer and use a program to record the dictation to an mp3 format. There is no way of transferring files from one device to another that I know of

You can have a file played back on a specified date, once every week, or at the same time every day.
