Yes it does matter. I am an systems electronics engineer. When you are buying speakers for your system, you need to "Impedance Match " your system with your speakers. In the back of your amplifier denotes the "MAX" impedance. Your speakers need to be equal or more. So if your speakers are rated at 6 ohms, your speakers will overcome with excess sound which can damage your amplifier and or speakers. You need to have the recommended rates of that 14 to 16 and 18 ohms.
