I don't know if this is the simplest DVD player because I don't know all the DVD players out there but It is very simple & easy to use. Actually , I have 2 of these DVD players. One was a present to me for my office from my grandson. When our DVD player in the living room went out this May, I purchased the exact DVD player from Best Buy on line and the Geek Squad delivered it to us the next day. They didn't hook up because my husband was able to. But I'm sure if you belong to the Geek squad, they will hook it up for you. Rcape
