where is the lens manufactured? null

Matt, To my knowledge the G Master lenses are designed by Zeiss in Germany and manufactured by Cosina in Japan, but are then assembled in Thailand (I believe). I have 4 G Master lenses (16-35 GM, 24-70 GM, 85 GM, and 70-200 GM) and they all have the same stickers and info on them (see screen shots). On the outside of the lens it says Sony Corp. 1-7-1 Konan Minato-ku Tokyo 108-0075 Japan, but on the inside next to the E-Mount of the lens it says "Made in Thailand" ... The design is key, which is done by the amazing people at Zeiss. The making of the lenses and components themselves are done in Japan to tight specs. The lenses are then assembled, tested, and boxed in Thailand. In my opinion, I would feel much more comfortable if the complete manufacturing, assembly, and testing were done in Japan by Sony employee's.

The one I got at Best Buy shows: " Made in Thailand" and has an striker " Sony Corp Japan" Lens works fantastic, much better than my other two Canon 24-70 F2.8 with Metabones speed booster on my Sony Cameras.
