Can the PS5 console play PS4 games? null

Yes. Although there are VERY rare cases (a handful at that) it will not be able to play that particular game. You can look up that list on the PlayStation Store, these titles will be accompanied with a description reading "Playable on: PS4 only". Last count I read was there were only 6 games that are "Ps4 only".
