A lot of it depends on your specific needs. If someone has older Ps4 games on disc , of course , they are going to need a drive in order to access those older games. In addition, some people use their Ps5 as a movie player. In terms of actual game play and performance of a disc vs digital ; there really isn't a huge one. There are those that say a digital Ps5 runs a little faster and that the drive itself is way too loud , but I've not seen a huge difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. If you have old PS4 discs, the drive will be needed, if you're starting off fresh, save $100 and get the digital version. You don't miss out on a single thing either way.

The question is: "Do I want a want a M.2 SSD now or a few months from now?" With either version PS5 games are copied to internal memory for faster load time. Don't believe that you can save $100 now, and get an external blue-ray if you decide you need one in the future; that will not work, the digital only model will not play external disc and i don't see Sony changing that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bluray version cuz you have gamestop which sells pre owned games and if you download anything you dont like there goes your money forever when you can return the game to gamestop if you beat it within a month or just to try out for the weekend. bluray also can have DLC so the version is the best of both purposes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesnt matter unless you need to play your old PS4 discs immediately or only buy physical copies of games. The 50 dollar price tag for the disc drive is reflected in the cost and if you buy the slim digital version you can always buy the disc drive later for the same 50 bucks
