must use antenna
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unlike the iPod Nano's etc., where the earphones also acted as an antenna, for this AM/FM radio, you will need to use the attached telescoping antenna.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the headphone cord will not act as an antenna.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The antenna needs to be used for the best reception--especially for FM station tuning. To maximize the best signal, extend the antenna and move the radio to try and get the best reception. It is good enough that extending the antenna and even if you lay the radio flat, you will still get a good reception. Headphone cords do not work as antennas to get a clear signal for this device. I have heard of using cords for antenna reception, but this is usually for and with stereo equipment that have those little white or black pieces of wire for all practical purposes and they are supposed to get a stronger signal. Those work for places that have possibly no windows and a lot of interior structural barriers like concrete, walls, or multiple floors. Not applicable for this radio, however.
