In preparing for near-future video developments, this is by no means overkill. But importantly, do not rely on the data rate listed on the front of the card, as that is the read rate. The write rate is much more important for recording video and may be significantly lower than the read rate. If you really want to leverage the ability of the Z90 to record 4k, you will need a write rate of 100Mbps and 50Mbps if you want the highest quality high-definition (1080) video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know, yes.. the PXW Z90V max data recording rate is 100 Mb/s for XAVC Long recording of 4K UHD video at up to 29.97p, (50 Mb/s of HD up to 59.94p.). So you could say that it is a bit of overkill. The only consideration however may be if you plan on using a camera in the near future that uses higher bit-rate codecs in which case it may be a good investment. The card has performed very reliably in the month I've been using it. ( In excess of 200 Mb/s).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The requirements for the SD card required for this cameras most demanding format of XAVC QFHD requires a SDXC Class 10 U2 or faster. We can only recommend that you can purchase the fastest memory card possible for the best performance.
