Like any other electronics device, you would need to have it on a UPS, or be running a generator. It, by itself, still needs external power to operate.

It consumes about 70 watt per hour when active, 40 watt per hour when idle, 140 watt when snow melting mode is activated. The service itself does not depend on local power grid.
