“Can you use them without the type-c donger or is that required to use them?”

• It is required to be able to use it without bluetooth. But if you plan to only use it with Bluetooth, you'll be fine. As an alternative to the dongle, you can use the cords that come with it, but it kinda defeats the purpose of a wireless headset.
