• A:Answer Between the tripod and the phone adaptor, there's a lot of flexibility here. The tripod upper "bulb" will unscrew from the tripod base; from there you can attach the phone shoe and face your phone and light downward.

• A:Answer It needs to be plugged in for the ring light to work. If you just want the tripod then no need to plug in. I use a battery pack and an old phone charger to be my power source. Battery pack allows me to not need to be near an outlet.

• A:Answer Yes! Because the light slides into a slotted fixture at the top of the stand, it can easily be inserted facing either way. In addition, just below the phone attachment is a ball joint, which allows you to position the light and your phone any way you would like to best capture what you are shooting.
