The gameplay is exactly the same for both. If you intend to have the game only for yourself on your Switch, I recommend digital. If you would like to try to share the game with some one or resell it, you gotta have the cartridge.

Digital for Mario Odyssey is a code you enter on your switch to download on your switch, but you need internet connection. It is better to get the physical “regular” version of Mario Odyssey.
