Nintendo switch requires the internet to download games, but once you download the game then you dont need the internet. Internet is required for updates and if you want to play against others online.

DRM check on a game that haven't been played in 24 hours or for the first time you play a game even if you just downloaded it from the eshop. Its a hassle and i do mot recommend purchasing digital games if you plan to play the switch while you travel.
