  • QuestionHi there, I'm wondering if there's will be 64-bit for Surface Pro X, when it's going to happen?

    Asked by KhaJJ.

    • Answer The Surface Pro X can natively run 64-bit apps. However, this requires the apps/software to be ported to ARM64, an evolution of ARM that supports 64-bit processing. ...and here is the non-technical answer. In some ways the Surface Pro X is ahead of it's time. The ARM technology (commonly used is cell phones) is new for laptops. The downside with any new technology is adoption. Apps and software companies have to upgrade their services to work with these new processors. This was occurring slowly when the Surface X was first introduced. It's happening more quickly now, especially now that Apple has started running ARM processors in some laptops. Has the hardware manufactures are using these processors more, it will put more pressure on the software providers to upgrade their services. That all being said, the isn't a specific date this will happen. It is happening now and will continue to happen... but it will likely be a little while before all apps and services will run 64-bit natively (without emulation, which is available now). Hope this helps.

  • QuestionI got my surface pro 7x today. The only issue I have found is the way you charge it. It is not something you plug into the unit. It is a strange looking plug that fits on the side of the surface. It falls off very easily.

    Asked by Alta.

    • Answer Surface Pro X uses a magnetic charger with the Surface Connect port to charge the device. If your charger is having difficulties staying connected, please feel free to reach out to our support team: https://aka.ms/AA4rbq6.

  • QuestionWhy are these not stocked in stores??? I went to purchase one with cash in hand from the sale of another computer. No BB stores have them within 250 miles. I was told “because they are so popular” which is not true. Tons of SP7s in stock, no SPxs :(

    Asked by SurfaceProBuyer.

    • Answer I had the same experience. They were slow to sell initially because so many of the apps were incompatible with the ARM processor used. This has gotten better over time and it's expected that apps and programs will continue to upgrade to be compatible with ARM technology. This is especially the case now that Apple is also now rolling out laptops using ARM processors.

  • Questionit says insert a Sim but I couldn't find it where!!!!!

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The Microsoft Surface Pro X does have an LTE (cellular) model that supports a SIM card for mobile data connectivity. If your Surface Pro X is asking for a SIM card but you cannot find where to insert it, here's what you need to know: SIM Card Slot Location: The SIM card slot on the Surface Pro X is typically located under the rear kickstand. Eject the Kickstand: To access the SIM card slot, you need to first eject the rear kickstand. To do this, place your Surface Pro X on a flat surface, with the rear of the device facing up. Locate the Slot: Once the kickstand is removed, you will find the SIM card slot near the bottom of the device. It's usually a small, rectangular slot. Insert the SIM Card: Carefully insert your SIM card into the slot. Ensure that it's inserted correctly, with the chip facing down and the notched corner aligned as per the slot's diagram. Secure the Kickstand: After inserting the SIM card, reattach the rear kickstand, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Activation: Once the SIM card is inserted, you may need to activate it with a mobile carrier or configure the cellular settings in the device's settings menu. It's important to note that not all Surface Pro X models come with LTE capabilities. If you have a Wi-Fi-only model, you will not have a SIM card slot, and you should not receive a message prompting you to insert a SIM card. If you're still having trouble finding the SIM card slot or have concerns about using cellular data on your Surface Pro X, consider referring to the device's user manual or contacting Microsoft Support for assistance. • QuestionWill I still able to use the surface pro x with WIFI and not the LTE?

    Asked by Asianboy2001.

    • Answer Yes, you can use the Microsoft Surface Pro X with Wi-Fi without activating or using the LTE (cellular) capabilities. The Surface Pro X comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, just like other Wi-Fi-only devices, allowing you to connect to Wi-Fi networks for internet access and other online activities. If you choose not to activate the LTE feature or do not have a data plan, your Surface Pro X will function as a regular Wi-Fi-only device. You can connect it to Wi-Fi networks at home, work, cafes, or any other location with Wi-Fi access to browse the internet, download apps, stream content, and perform various online tasks. To use Wi-Fi on your Surface Pro X, you can follow these general steps: Turn on your Surface Pro X. Open the "Settings" app. Navigate to the "Network & Internet" section. Select "Wi-Fi." Turn on Wi-Fi if it's not already enabled. Choose a Wi-Fi network from the available list. Enter the Wi-Fi network's password if required. Once connected, you'll have internet access through Wi-Fi. So, whether you have an LTE-enabled Surface Pro X or not, you can always rely on Wi-Fi connectivity for internet access and stay connected wherever Wi-Fi networks are available.
