If you are running vintage/legacy equipment, you may want to consider the SVS 1000 Pro subwoofers, which have speaker level inputs. These speaker level inputs are high impedance and won't pull any power from your integrated/receiver. We have a connection diagram in the QSG showing how to use the speaker level inputs. Unless your integrated/receiver has a set of removable jumpers between the preamp and amp stage, it's unlikely any of your line level pre-outs are variable gain. They will all typically be fixed gain and cannot be used with a subwoofer because it will always play at the same volume. Ed M - SVS
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should be able to. I know all vintage receivers have 2 speaker outputs, many models have outputs for 4 speakers. To set this up the correct way you would need a Line Level Adapter. These are usually very small devices that are able to take a left and right speaker output and convert it to a left and right RCA output. This will allow you to add an external amplifier to your vintage receiver or add a Powered Subwoofer. It should work fine with this wireless adapter..although I believe with this adapter the subwoofer needs to actually see the adapter, nothing blocking the signal path. You need to double check on that, cause I know SVS does make one that will work regardless if the signal path is obstructed or not. But back to your question, you should look into a device called a Speaker level to Line level adapter/convertor. I think that's what they are called. I don't know if Best Buy has them but there are different ones out there. I know someone that has used the Russound ADP-1.2 with good success for adding a power amplifier to his vintage receiver. The signal from your speaker output will be sufficient for any added subwoofer or amp and still allow you to control the volume from the receiver volume knob. If your receiver has a Fixed Level RCA output and you use that for the SVS adapter you won't be able to adjust the volume with your receiver. If your receiver has a Pre-out RCA that would work fine. I hope I understood your question correctly and that my answer can help you in some way.
