There’s a pocket in the backpack that can hold an external charger. You have to get your battery pack separately. The idea is that you put your battery pack into your back pack, plug in the included usb charger and then zip it up. There’s an external usb you can plug devices into without having to unzip your backpack. It doesn’t have a lightning cable for Apple users, but would work for android.
