Yes, you can play both. The screen size is nice and the picture is geat. I use an amplified speaker with it just like I do with my laptop and tablet. The audio portion is never really loud enough for me on any of these devices, but I am a little hard of hearing. Highy recommended DVD PLAYER.

Yes you can play regular DVD's, DVD-R's, CD's, CD-R's, Blu- ray's, BD-R's on this unit. But to get it full potential you should watch Blu-rays on it. The picture is crisp & clear. I recommend it to anyone. I hope you buy it & enjoy it. I enjoy mine. Good luck :0)...
