Your question popped into my email from best buy as a recent tablo dvr purchaser. This is exactly what I am trying to achieve with my Microsoft surface pro (Since I can only get the tablo app to work on my iPhone so far and not on my Samsung TV ). So far no luck. Sorry. I'm really sorry mostly that Best Buy is outsourcing it's technical advice for products it sells to other customers through their email. That is really pathetic customer (no) service. Emily

I do apologize as I did not keep Tablo that long to explore apps for the TV devices. I would assume if the TV is running Google Chromecast, as long as Tablo apps are run or compatible with that device or like FireTV stick, maybe Tablo can be run on smart TVs? I have a Sony TV that has Chromecast built in and is Android TV so if Tablo has app for Google or Android devices like my Samsung and LG phones which I did try Tablo on and seemed to work.

I forgot to add that the HDHomeRun Silicon Dust and Hauppauge Cordcutter apps can run on some smart TVs. I think HD HomeRun runs on Chromecast, FireTV, Roku and SlingTV AirTV and is the most versatile. The Hauppauge one works on FireTV and it used to run on Chromecast but I had some issues with it and it may not run on SlingAirTV. Also, it seems I have to power cycle the Hauppauge one often to get it back in sync so much I had to put it on an IoT device like one of those home automation switches (Wemo or Kasa TP-Link wi-fi switch) to use an app to power it off and back on. So maybe the HDHomeRun is a choice but it is only ethernet or LAN connected. It is not by default wireless unless you wire it to a wireless bridge, wireless access point or wireless range extender or obviously just connect it directly into a router --main router-- using the ethernet connection. Good luck. As far as Tablo, I may give it another chance but I have to get it to be more portable and not have to go through hassles reconfiguring it all the time connecting to the portable wireless router when I decide to change its location. It is okay if I have to rescan the channels but the network configurations should be simpler.

However, one has to have a Samsung phone that runs DeX. I believe one can then connect that DeX-compatible Samsung phone (like Note 9) using USB cable to a computer and run the DeX software there. The phone's screen and applications will appear in a window on the computer (some Mac versions or Windows 10 or 11) and the applications on the Samsung phone can be run from the computer perhaps considered a level of indirection. Otherwise, if you want devices like Tablo (antenna tv feeds) to run on computers and smartphones, I believe the best choices are HDHomeRun Silicon Dust and SlingTV AirTV devices. Both run on all it seems. The Hauppauge Cordcutter MyTV device and applications can run on smart mobile devices and Windows (not on Mac). So those are my thoughts, there could be others but these are devices I have had experiences with. Good luck. I tried the Tablo and returned it because it seemed a bit complicated when I moved the device to another location but still connected wirelessly to the same "hotspot" or portable router. It seemed I had to reconfigure everything over again with regard to the network connection when I changed the location and had to do that as well as rescan the channels. I wanted a device that was more portable like when going to libraries, schools, hotels, restaurants and if I brought this, the portable router and an antenna to watch TV in this way. Instead I just use the TV tuners USB adapters I have connected to the computer like PCTV systems, Kworld, MyGica, AverMedia all for Windows and EyeTV/Elgato for Mac to watch TV and listen to FM radio stations. I had invested in these devices over the years and have them connected to various computers to watch, stream TV and radio stations. I wanted to experiment with a more "remote" or detached way to do this wirelessly.
