In order to use the smart features of this TCL Roku TV, you would need to complete the guided setup. This includes connecting to the Internet via WiFi, creating a Roku account (completely free), and activating the TV (completely free). However, if you just want to use this TV as a traditional TV by connecting external devices through the various inputs and not use the smart features, you can elect to not connect this TV to the Internet at startup. You will still have access to all of the inputs and features of a traditional TV. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had a similar problem. We have cable. You are supposed to arrow over to the HDMI icon where you have a cable box or adapter plugged in (now labeled CABLE BOX). Click OK on it. Then use the remote that controls the cable box to change channels after it automaticallt searches out your channels. Takes 2 remotes to watch anything. But our cable box had gone kablooey along with the old TV from a power surge, so we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Cable tech had to come out, test and replace the box, and set it up. Good luck.
