“How is the viewing angle on the 55" specifically? CR rates it as "fair". I'm coming from a 720p plasma, so while I expect the picture on the TCL to be better in every regard, I am concerned about the viewing angle. How wide can I go and still look OK?”

There's just no comparing any LCD TV to the excellent viewing angle of a Plasma TV, you'd have to get an OLED TV for that. However, viewing angle aside, this TV is worlds better than your old one, as you can imagine. Its viewing angle isn't the worst, I'd describe it as "fair" as well, at least as good as (probably better than) your average VA LCD screen. Subjectively, it seems actually better than some Samsung TVs that cost more, to me. I bought 2, both sizes, and I think I got my money's worth overall.

There are also options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet.
