“Can the screensaver be family photos or does it need to be actual art? Also does it do slideshow mode at all?”

• You can upload photos to your tv and it will play a slideshow. I didnt personally do it but the wife added a few of our family photos through a NXT app on her phone.

• You can upload your own photos. There are two ways, one is the TCL app which isn't very user friendly. The other way is using the Google Photos app, where you can create a shared album to upload to. I'm not sure about slideshow mode as I have not tried to play with that setting.
